• game server not working...

    I have to go through the entire login process (welcome to synchronet, these keys do this, what shell do you want, what avatar do you want, here are your caller stats, etc....) then the game starts. This is far from ideal and
    it says the user name is a dupe even though it's not. I've got rlogin_auto_xtrn=true set, which shows because the game does start before the menu, but after all the rest of that stuff... What am I doing wrong? I've
    got all of the new user questions turned off. Stingray is at a loss.

    I can read specific sections relevant to my issue, but I can't find those by searching. I don't have the ability to read the whole thing and understand
    it. I also can't search for something when I don't know what to search for. That's why I'm asking for help.

    The game server wiki implies that the game will be loaded immediately. It's not. There are many text files and prompts displayed before that happens, including bulletins, which that help says should be skipped. My use case is simple and I thought it was accounted for.

    You can eliminate that prompt entirely by creating the file ctrl/text.ini and adding the following line:

    if you dont know what you're looking for how can other people figure it out? we're not mind readers. just run synchronet one one port and your other bbs on another. do rlogin from the other bbs to synchronet. you can even do rlogin to x-bit's doorgames. that's what i'm doing on datastream.

    if you fucking read the docs you'd know what those files are and what can be disabled and what can be modified.

    they shouldnt account for someone who doesn't want to use the software properly and want a quick shortcut to take advantage of one part of the bbs.

    seriously this stuff is really easy. read the docs and then make sure you read the customization section. you an read, right. it's not a dick, dont take it so hard. synchronet docs are better than any other bbs software.

    The game server wiki. By it is now, I meant that I have that line in my modopts.ini. It made 0 difference.
