I am testing newstap (ios nntp client), it can send messages ok but for some reason I can no longer see and read messages.

News servers often hide messages you've read. Maybe you'll see
this new one?

it isn't the server... it is the client... remember that news clients handle the lastread pointers and whether the user can see already read posts or not... quite the opposite of BBS access via dumb terminals...

Leafnode does something similar in that it does not post messages to
the news servers disk until after a short amount of time.
