I tried several different telnet clients on my mobile devices over the past few years, and the biggest problem I've always run into was that not a single one of them handle ANSI correctly.

Did you check out that TERMinator app others have been discussing here? It seems to handle ansi surprisingly well! It's in the apple app store. Not sure if it's on android or not since I don't own one.

    check it out!

You have to go into the settings and find where you can select the encoding. Usually it will be set for UTF-8, and you need to change it to CP437. Then you also need a font that has upper ascii chars, but a lot of the monospace ones do. In Putty on Windows, for example, you have to select both CP437 encoding and the Terminal font.. but I think in ConnectBot for Android all I had to do was set the encoding.

Depending on your screen size, Termux can be an OK BBSing terminal. You might need a CP437 wrapper, tho (github.com/keaston/cp437).

I recently tried Termius on my Android phone and have had pretty good luck with it. You have to set the charset to "IBM437" for ANSI to display correctly. It's not great, but not unusable for mobile.

Yeah, but doesn't Termius make you create an account and log in to something? Why does an SSH client need to call home for things? Ehhh. I tried it out on IOS.. but really, Termux (Android) and iSH (IOS) do almost everything you ever need.

I didnt have to make an account on Android. I'm actually using it right now. The only issue I have is having to press the "..." and then left arrow to backspace instead of the actual key. That might be a setting though...
