I know a lot of people are using Mystic or Synchronet to run their systems. They are both full featured all-in-one solutions which for the most part get updates and support from their creators.
I would like to know who isn't running them. More importantly, what mailer/tosser you might be using.
Well, it depends on which system here. The main BBS system, Debian 10, is running Mystic, with Binkd, and the Husky project.
The secondary system, Win7, is running Mystic with mis and mutil, and Synchronet with Binkit.
I see the Husky trend I started seems to have picked up stream with
Paul also now switching.
What is the second system for? Just an additional bbs? I know you run the QWK gate off of the SBBS system, but I didn't know you ran a second bbs. Thats awesome.
The Mystic on Win7 is the fsxNet hub 4 system, and the SBBS is the FTN<>QWK gateway for 4 networks now. :)

Why not consolidate the hub system into your husky setup?

I'd like to get a feeling for what everyone is using.

I only carry this network on my Synchronet system as it is my main
system. I do have a couple of other BBSes running Magicka/Magimail on a Pi, and GT Power (with QWK networking) under dosemu.

At the moment, I'm using Synchronets BinkIT, but I will probably switch to binkd, since i cannot get binkit to poll out over IPv6 (unless somebody can help me).
I'm running a pure Synchronet 3.17 CVS build on CentOS 7.x compiled into RPMs and maintained that way. Using BinkIT, SBBSEcho, TickIT, etc, all
the parts now comprised of what Synchronet is today. That is what is linked up with you now. :)

It's working fine for me. Are you trying to run binkit under jsexec as its own independent thing, or along with sbbs itself?

I'd like to keep that as a separate system, to avoid any issues. I may, at some point, change it over to husky though. I've been noticing a few problems with mutil and mis, and the lack of decent reporting systems.
I did write a utility that would read the logs, and generate a report to show when the last connection was from each system, but there are a few bugs that need to get squashed...
I have written a script that will look through the fileboxes and
reports back how long mail has been waiting to be picked up as a
netmail to myself. It reports how many days before the last connection, how many message packets, how many file tics and the node number. If
that helps.

That sounds a lot more in-depth than what I've got now... Could I take a look at that script? It would help tremendously.
I plan on releasing it, I just have to clean up the code so other can easily read it and see what it is doing. I am terrible at proper formatting.
I should have it hatched out later today or tomorrow.
I'm actually pretty good with formatting. I just have issues when it comes to commenting my code. I'll go back and look at old code, and it takes me awhile to figure out what the heck I was thinking when I wrote it... :)

I think, for someone to say something bad about Frank, it would have to be a lie...

You can outbound poll with BinkIT?
My first step was to use jsexec binkit -l <node> to verify a config - and I think I also had some outbound mail that was set to crash, but it didnt go out.

And, as I just mentioned in my previous post to Netsurge, your issues with BinkIt not doing IPv6 outbound should now be fixed in current CVS. you'll need full updates to source, not just the JS, because of things that have been done in core C/C++ code, but it's there now.

Dang! I did a rebuild yesterday (after seeing some IPv6 stuff being committed) - I was too keen.
Kicked off a rebuild now, I'll test it out.

Hehe, nice. I'm planning to update here soon, myself. The new ircd stuff is in and presumably things are settling in for the weekend so, likely tomorrow morning or so, I'll kick off my rpm builds and get the updates into my repo I use for upgrading. ;)

Yes, I can confirm the IPv6 stuff works well :)
Found a couple of other glitches along the way that DM has fixed.

He really does. Even more so now than before I think. It's actually rather quite refreshing to see someone actively there, and actively fixing things as things come up. Just the other day, someone was mentioning that BinkIt outbound wasn't initiating IPv6 callouts, and that running ircd.js via a standalone jsexec so it didn't depend on sbbs to be running to work, wasn't binding to IPv6. As of today, both of these issues are now fixed, thanks to Deuce and Rob. ===
Rob has a wife and kids, and I think he is lucky to be able to set aside time se emingly every day to work on something he loves (such as Synchronet). I bought my first house and got married a few years ago,
and lately I feel like I don't r egularly have time to work on BBS stuff or other hobbies. I work on it when I h ave time here and there.

I'm married, but I don't even have any kids yet, and I feel like my
time for my BBS is fairly limited right now..

Yup. Once a few years are packed on the marriage and the kids get
older (21
and 13 here), things become easier.

My 19 year old daughter is actually moving out this weekend. Her 16 year old sis ter is still living at home, as are their two brothers (9 and 7 years old).
Oh, I feel old now... My oldest is 30, middle is 27, and youngest is 25. I'm STILL waiting for grandchildren though...

But, yeah, time and sharing time appropriately can be difficult
especially with family matters.

IMO, family is always first, once that is done, me time comes next, lol
Hmmm, indeed. I've only ever been married, no kids. And for a while I
did actually try to
put family entirely first, but with my former wife, that ended up
becoming all-consuming,
even to the point it would start effecting my work. But, then, I
mentioned before, my
wife was extremely narcissistic. Since we seperated, things have been a
lot better in the
overall, and with my new girlfriend in exactly the opposite spectrum,
things have been so
much better. Simpler, and she, like me, sometimes just needs their
space to themselves at
times, which it quite a normal thing to me. :)
